I am tired today, plain and simply tired. I worked long hours yesterday and throw in an Open House for my son's school, that has put me over the edge of tired, I guess that makes me closer to exhausted. So today after a couple of early patients, a grocery store run, cleaning up around home and making spaghetti sauce for dinner I am going to catch my breath. Blogging does that for me. It makes me sit still, calm down and write. It calms me when I can grab a few minutes with all of you, sharing your life and your creativity. So thank you for writing your wonderful blogs and coming to visit me at my little space in the blog world.
In this day and age where we are so tuned into each other through every means possible, Twitter, Instagram, Blogs, Facebook, Google +, and every other social media outlet, I love my little blog more and more. I know many of you have taken the plunge to faster social media sites, and if that is your thing that is great, for me I am staying right here. I am old fashioned, I like things to stay the same. I do not Tweet, or take pictures of my life and post them here and there and everywhere. I have a Facebook page purely so I could check on my sons posts when he was younger. I rarely post, and I rarely read anything on Facebook. I know I miss a lot of what is going on, but most of what I miss I think I am better off not knowing. If you are a friend or family member, I would rather have an phone call or and email from you telling me your news.
I am old fashioned and stubborn apparently. I think life moves so fast, so much faster than when I was young. I worry that kids growing up are not going to be able to talk on the phone and have a real conversation. I think they can't sit at a stop light, an appointment or even a special event without being connected constantly to their phones. I worry that the more connected we become, the more disconnected we are.
That is why I like blogging. I think that it is the perfect mix of old and new for me. I get to check on you and your life, and you get to check on me. We write words, sometimes many of them, and in those words are thoughts, feelings, hopes and fears. There is a conversation, just like we were sitting together having a cup of tea and chatting about life. There is creativity and that never ceases to amaze me. You my friends are such an inspiration to me. You garden, cook, crochet, knit, sew, cross stitch and make beautiful things for your homes. You share where you live and show me places I have never heard of, but now desperately want to travel to. I love this interaction we have. I can't thank you enough for continuing to feel your blog is important, and taking the time to write, especially when there are so much faster means of connecting out there.
I have said it a million times before, bloggers are amazing. And I have a special blogging friend I have to thank for a very special gift. I know I have mentioned my friend Deb before, but if you are new to this blog allow me to introduce you, blogger friends this is Deb from Posted From Home. Deb has an absolutely wonderful blog filled with such beauty. Her blog starts off with these words, "Home is where your story begins...." You can tell right from the start that you have found yourself a special place to visit. Deb is an incredible artist and Mother. You can visit with Archer her beautiful and kind Labrador, and see the beauty of nature all around Deb's blog. Recently Deb made beautiful and unique Prayer Flags, and she had a giveaway. Well I did not win the giveaway but Deb sent me one anyway, a very special one she created just for me. Come and take a peek.
It came in this wonderful wrapping, sheet music and a hand painted card with a little nest on it. You are so talented Deb.
This what was inside the creative packaging.
A lovely and thoughtful Prayer Flag just for me. I love the thought and inspiration....Dream!
The card hanging from the flag says, "If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees." from Kahil Gibran.
I hung it right up in my craft studio, right on the wall, front and center so I can see it all the time. Looks to me I need to have a bit a tidying session here soon.
Deb you are so thoughtful and I can not tell you how much your gift means to me. When I opened it last night I was just so thrilled. Your kindness is amazing Deb, and the gift is just tremendous.
Do you see what I mean by blogging friends being the best? They take the time to share just because. They take the time to make you something so special, just because. They share their lives and their talents, and sometimes you get a lovely surprise present just because.
Please hop over and say Hi to Deb and Archer, you will be so happy you did.
