Here's Marc's full interview
Marc, welcome to Stunning Men and a big thank you for taking the time to do the interview. You are from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe but currently live in Perth, Western Australia.
I grew up in Africa where I was always a keen young sportsman who enjoyed staying active. After school I tried out Uni before making the great move to Australia where I became a personal trainer/coach and I havehappily lived here for almost 6 years now.
First thing first ... how did you get into modelling?
Well I had always had an interest in getting involved in the modelling side of things, but after winning a ‘Beach Body’ competition in 2015 I had a photo shoot as a part of the winnings. My pics were spotted and I luckily got contacted by CSA.
What do you think is the most fulfilling thing about modelling?
For me it is getting recognition for what I do as a living – being a Personal Trainer and Strength and Condition Coach. The modelling is rewarding for the hard work that is put in to maintain a fit, strong and healthy lifestyle.
How comfortable are you in showing off your physique in a shoot?
I do like the camera (Marc laughs). Even though the modelling ‘posing’ is very different to what I was used to before I like to think I am pretty confident and comfortable in a shoot.
You are looking amazing. How on earth did you get into such shape?
Ah thanks man! I have always been very health conscious and active in a number of sports, I also competed in a few bodybuilding and men’s physique competitions. But now it is just a lifestyle and through work I train 6 days a week religiousy and am very strict with my diet.
When did your passion for fitness start?
Back in my schooling days I was a swimmer and a waterpolo player where I represented the home country in both sports. After schooling days I didn’t keep up with the sport specific activity but found a love for the gym instead. From then on I made it my career (More smiles). Although it never feels like work.
What keeps you determined and driven to work out?
It’s become a form of sanity I guess. And just routine, I’m lucky enough to work in the fitness industry and working with people who I am constantly helping to achieve their best is often inspiring for me to continue to walk the walk and talk the talk. So being an example for my clients, fellow colleagues and the industry is a huge drive in keeping me focused.
What is your diet like?
I am pretty strict with my diet for about 80-90% of the time. I keep my food very clean and always timed correctly around my training and current goals. But in saying that it’s not at all boring - I do keep it interesting and vary my foods as much as possible. But it does comprise of a lot of salads, veggies, lots of different proteins and then of course the good fats or carbs. (Marc smiles again)
If you had a cheat day, what would be your favourite food?
I would definitely say it would have to involve Pizza and Ice Cream! Not sure which one I love more! (Marc laughs)
Can you share your fitness regimen with us?
It changes very frequently, but generally will involve a 4/5 day split of weight training and I like to have a couple of cardio or high intensity sessions thrown in there as well to keep the fitness up!
And what’s the best form of cardio for you?
I am also a spin instructor so if I am teaching any classes I will use that as my cardio or I am also a bit of a fan of HIIT training or F45 classes. Tough interval training with a variety of exercises is great.
Now a few quick fun questions if we may? Do you think you are a good date?
(Marc laughs) Well, well, well … if only I could consult on this one first. But yeah I think I’m a pretty good date - I can talk to anyone and good at avoiding awkward silences. Probably cause my job involves talking all day but also because I am always genuinely interested in learning about new people and their experiences. I am also pretty open minded … (Big smile from Marc)
Your favourite song or piece of music to play while training or running?
One of the ultimate favourites that always gets me going would be Timmy Trumpet- Freaks!
Do you have any other passions besides fitness?
Just recently I’ve developed a passion for travel (something I haven’t done enough of) but along with that I have always had a very keen interest in cooking and cars!
What can’t you live without?
Great question- took me a while to put a pin on it and I think it would have to be PURPOSE! Currently I thrive on helping people see the best in themselves, feel the best they have felt and achieve a state of health they did not think they could. So I guess living to serve that purpose is something that I really cherish and couldn’t be without in anything I may choose to do one day.
Could you finish these two sentences for us? You wouldn’t know, but I’m very good at …
… go karting. It was one of my first hobbies and I won the Zimbabwean Junior Cadet Go Karting Champion. Definitely a hobby I’d like to take up again one day - even though it’s led to many speeding fines for me! (Marc smiles again)
Now ... I’m just not very good at …
… ball sports! Other than water polo I have definitely not got a very good eye ball co-ordination! Which I never tell anyone, I just avoid the ball sports at all costs. (big laugh)
One last question Marc, what is your big dream?
Big dream is to one day make it BIG! In the fitness and or modelling scene. Ideally to have my own fitness facility one day which will service in helping people achieve their dream personal goals, while I still travel for my modelling career! One day, fingers crossed.
Marc, it has been a real pleasure to interview you! Thank you for your time and for being such good sport. All the best for the future.
