Also in 2017, Kendall Jenner was spotted in $800 asymmetrical jeans that had a crooked fly. Just like Rihanna, Kendall proved that not only is it possible to pull off a unique denim fit, but you can look great doing so. After a few years of intermittent asymmetrical pant looks, 2019 has seen an influx of the asymmetrical pant trend, now heightened by completely chopping off a (pant) leg.

One possible explanation: The one-legged look has always been popular in the dance community, where you'll often see dancers wearing one sock/leg warmer/legging during practice. Still, the reasoning behind the current trend varies. Potential reasons for donning this look include: a foot injury (hence wearing only one sock), the ease of stopping a spin while wearing one sock, emphasizing one leg's lines, and simply following a trend. Copying the fashion-moves of ballerinas has long been in style (leggings, wrap pants, ballerina buns etc), which could explain why we're seeing so many single-sided below the belt looks.

In January the emerging Seoul-based label Pushbutton [released a pair of jeans where essentially one leg was a super-short-short(https://www.dazeddigital.com/fashion/article/43006/1/one-legged-jeans-pushbutton-seoul-seung-gung-park), and the other leg, a full length pant leg. The only question I have is: what season am I supposed to wear these in?? I guess they would best be suited for transitional seasons.

The one-legged pants trend didn't end there. This August, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner twinned in matching skin-tight jumpsuits for National Sibling Day. And, you guessed it, their looks were both missing a pant leg. The sister duo looked like a pair of contemporary jesters, or ballet dancers. Kim also recently released her shapewear line, which features asymmetrical styles perfect for layering under outfits with a high split, proving that there can be practical reasons for asymmetrical bottoms.

Another possible reason for the popularity of asymmetrical pants is that we're simply running out of pants trends. From the early aughts trend of low-rise denim, to skinny jeans, high-rise pants, and the more recent trend of baggier "boyfriend jeans," pants have nowhere to go anymore but weird. Remember the controversial denim panties? AKA janties? It seems like in an attempt to create new looks, sometimes designers are erring into satirical territory. While I'm all for taking risks, sometimes it's a fine line between avant-garde and farse.

Astros insider: Brotherhood of traveling pants - Houston Chronicle

After a brief swerve into pigskin prognostications, here are some remarks and observations in the wake of a second consecutive Astros comeback win, 7-4 over the Mariners on Friday night.

Sartorial eloquence

With George Springer sidelined with a concussion the last two days, Josh Reddick has stepped into Springer's role – and into his pants.

Springer suggested Thursday that Reddick wear his pants against the Mariners, and Reddick responded with his first homer since the All-Star break. He wore them again Friday and homered once more.

"I don't want to give George too much credit," Reddick said. "He's down right now and said, 'Red, why don't you try my pants? They may have a homer in them,' so I wore them (Thursday) night and had a homer and wore them again."

Springer, Reddick and Michael Brantley also are switching pullovers with some success. Given the superstitious nature of ballplayers, he said, the clothing swap will continue Saturday.

Reddick's home run off Tommy Milone, a friend since their playing days in Oakland, traveled 436 feet and was his longest since a 438-foot shot against the Royals in 2015.

"I'm staying in the zone right now and not getting out of my approach, not trying to do too much, and balls are going out of the ballpark, which I haven't done in a while," he said.

Tiger rag

Circumstances require Alex Bregman to wear orange, but he's backing the purple and gold Saturday night in Austin.

Bregman, who played for LSU before coming to the Astros, is fairly convinced that the Tigers will handle the University of Texas Longhorns in their nationally televised game at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.

"The Tigers are going to go in there and steamroll," he said. "It's not going to be pretty in Austin this weekend. We're too big, too fast, too strong."

The fact that Texas is playing at home, Bregman said, "will make it at least like a 30-point win, not a 45-point win."

Both teams are ranked in the Top 10, and LSU is a 6.5-point favorite.

Etc.

Bregman's steal of home, which came as Aledmys Díaz was caught in a rundown, was the Astros' first since Domingo Santana did so against the Red Sox on July 3, 2015.

Manager A.J. Hinch's observation on the play: "I'm glad it ended in a run and not an out." ... Bregman also is one away in each category from becoming the third Astros player to have a hundred runs, walks and RBIs in a season, joining Jeff Bagwell (1996-2001) and Lance Berkman (2002, 2004). ...

The Astros are now 14-1 against the Mariners this year and are 44-15 in their division, the best record in baseball, with 17 more games against American League West teams remaining this month.

"That's how you win the division," Reddick said. "You want to be able to beat the guys who are trying to play spoilers. With the A's coming to town, we have to keep upbeat and swing the bats well. These two games (against Seattle) have been a good test for us." ...

Roberto Osuna's 32nd save pushed his career total to 148, putting him on track to become the youngest player at 24 to reach 150 career saves. Craig Kimbrel at age 26 and 354 days old now holds that distinction. ...

The Astros' minor league players of the month were Round Rock infielder Jack Mayfield, who hit .292 with a .918 OPS in 24 games with the Express, and catcher Nerio Rodriguez, who in 16 games with the Gulf Coast League Astros hit .268 with an .859 OPS.

Pitching honorees were righthander Cristian Javier, who was 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA and a 42-9 strikeout-walk ratio in two games at Round Rock and three games at Double A Corpus Christi, and righthander Jairo Lopez, who was 2-2 with a 1.61 ERA in six games at Class A Short Season Tri-City.

This is a press release from Aerostich…

After a six-year absence, Aerostich's waterproof/breathable/seam-sealed all-leather Transit suit is back, and now it's better than ever.

From its revolutionary introduction in 2008 through 2013 (when specialized materials became unavailable and forced its discontinuance), the Transit suit's well-earned reputation was as the very best leather riders gear available.

Aerostich's waterproof/breathable/seam-sealed all-leather Transit suit is back

The new Transit 3 jacket and pants suit has all the exact same functional details and features as the originals, but it uses an all-new 1.2mm perforated, waterproof-breathable, seam-sealed leather. Compared to the original it's just as durable, and as tough, and as waterproof — and now it's also a bit softer, more comfortable and easier to break in.

The Transit 3's fully seam-sealed micro-perforated breathable-waterproof leather contains a permanent impregnation to keep it from absorbing water so it does not become heavy during long wet rides, and after the rain ends it dries almost immediately.

Thousands of micro-vents across the leather's surface ensure comfort during high activity by removing excess moisture inside through a unique waterproof membrane. You'll ride drier through rain, fog or misty conditions. The Transit also feels noticeably cooler and more comfortable under a hot direct sun compared to traditional leathers.

A complete set of fitted yet easily removable TF 5 impact armor systems — elbow, shoulder, knee, hip and back — provides maximum protection with less movement restriction.

The Aerostich Transit 3 is ideally suited for every riding situation. Jacket sizes 38–52 Short, Regular and Long. Pants sizes 30–44 waist, Short, Regular and Long. Imported.

Woman used pair of pants to strangle stepdaughter to death, police say - WTAP-TV

Posted: 06 Sep 2019 09:04 PM PDT

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indiana woman who was charged Friday in the strangulation death of her 10-year-old stepdaughter told investigators she "was very angry" when she killed the child and hid her body in a shed, court documents allege.

Amanda D. Carmack, 34, was charged with murder and strangulation in Skylea Carmack's killing. She also faces felony charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and domestic battery death to a person under age 14.

The Gas City woman is jailed without bond in Marion, Indiana. Online court records don't list an attorney who could speak on her behalf.

A probable cause affidavit filed with the charges states that Carmack went to the Gas City police station early Wednesday — four days after she reported Skylea missing — and confessed to killing her. Police found Skylea's body hours later hidden in a black plastic garbage bag in a shed behind the family's home in the city about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Indianapolis.

Carmack was arrested the same day and held on preliminary charges. Grant County prosecutors filed a motion Friday indicating that if Carmack is convicted in Skylea's killing they plan to seek a sentence of life in prison without parole.

According to the affidavit, an autopsy showed that clothing, apparently a pair of pants, was found "tied very tight" around Skylea's neck. A pillow, blanket and backpack were found inside two bags within the trash bag containing the body.

According to the affidavit, Carmack would not explain why she killed Skylea, saying only that "she was very angry." She told investigators she could not remember all the details of the killing but recalled being on top of the child, who was lying on her back.

"She started choking her with her hands then she thinks she tied something around her neck," the document states.

Carmack reported Skylea missing on Aug. 31, telling authorities that the girl may have run away from home.

She told investigators that before Skylea disappeared she discovered that the girl had stolen a charm bracelet from one of the six other children who lived at the family's home. Carmack said she found that bracelet, told Skylea to go clean her room while she made dinner and later discovered that she was missing, the affidavit states.

Several of the other children who lived at the home told police that Carmack "was a strict disciplinarian" who would physically abuse them, including whipping them with a belt, according to the affidavit.

"They stated that when they were in trouble, they would have to stand with their faces against the wall with their hands in the air. Sometimes they would remain in this position for hours," it states.

Skylea's father, Kevin Carmack, is a truck driver. Authorities determined he was returning home from Maryland on Saturday when he learned his daughter was missing.
